Current streamflow conditions map

The U.S. Geological Survey operates and maintains approximately 7,300 streamgages nationwide, about 170 real-time stream flow gages here in New Jersey, which provide long-term, accurate, and unbiased information that meets the needs of many diverse users. The USGS collects the streamflow data needed by Federal, State, and local agencies for planning and operating water-resources projects and regulatory programs.

Mobile information resources

  • USGS WaterAlert sends email or text messages when certain parameters measured by a USGS data-collection station exceed user-definable thresholds.
  • USGS StreaMail sends email response with real-time stream stage and flow data for the USGS station (site) number in subject line of your email request.
  • iNWS provides text messaging alerts from the National Weather Service for weather and hydrology.
