Refinements of a Data-Model for Watershed Water Budget Analysis

Project Title: NJ194 - Refinements of a Data-Model for Watershed Water Budget Analysis
Project Number: 2454AAM
Project Chief:
Project Start Date: 01-AUG-2001
Project End Date: 30-SEP-2005

Project Objectives

The overall objective of this project is to provide to the NJDEP a data model that can be used to develop a working database for various watershed planning, water supply planning and water management regulatory activities.

Statement of Problem

As part of a water-use database project for the USGS Districts in New England, a data model and database were created to provide a tool to better evaluate the water use in the region. As a result of this work, the NJDEP is interested in modifying the New England data model to be used in developing a working database for water budgets analysis at the HUC 11 and possibly the HUC 14 level.

Strategy and Approach

The basis of this study is the data model developed for the USGS New England Districts' wate-use inventory program. It is the intent of this study to:

  1. Review the New England model design for relevance.
  2. Add items needed for NJDEP purposes.
  3. Adjust field names where possible to match NJDEP fields.
  4. # Include tables containing classification/description terms provided by NJDEP.
  5. Adjust the model to handle all required changes.
