Project Title: NJ040 - Low-Flow Characteristics
To determine regional low-flow relationships for both the 2-year and 10-year 7-day low flows throughout New Jersey, so that accurate estimations of these values at ungaged sites can be ma
Statement of Problem
No attempt has ever been made to regionalize low-flow relationships of New Jersey streams. Except at the approximately 100 continuous record and 300 partial-record sites distributed around the state, low-flow frequencies, such as the 10 year 7-day low-flows, are relatively unknown in New Jersey. Therefore, regional low-flow relationships that would allow an accurate estimation of low-flow frequencies for ungaged sites must be determined.
Strategy and Approach
All low-flow relationships will be estimated by standard regionalization techniques, such as multiple-regression analysis. Basin characteristics of watersheds where low-flow relationships have previously been determined will be used as parameters in the regression analysis. To reduce the standard error of the regression equations, the State may be subdivided into subareas where local geologic conditions are as homogeneous as possible.
