Water Quality Network
Project Title: NJ003 - Water Quality Network
To collect water-quality data sufficient to provide a long-term data base in order to facilitate planning and action for the management of New Jersey waters.
Statement of Problem
Water quality assessment for water resources planning in New Jersey requires a statewide data base. In order for sound planning and a realistic assessment of New Jersey's water resources, the chemical and physical quality of the streams and rivers must be monitored and defined.
Strategy and Approach
Operation of a network of water quality stations to provide information regarding chemical concentration and time trends, as required by planning and management agencies. Sampling frequencies range from continuous to quarterly in the routine water quality surveillance network. All data is stored in the USGS NWIS database.
